The River Rea V's The Rubber Duck.

My first attempt at putting some content alongside my music choice.

Quite experimental, with the purpose/aim to visually show the flow of the river. Does it do that? Perhaps a little, but I have not really concluded anything, so I guess it lacks any real purpose at the moment. Its something I think I could develop further into my project though.

And why did I pick these? Well I wanted a piece of music which would represent my emotional responses to the Rea. And what were these? Curiosity. Anxioty. Uneasy-ness. Increased heart rate. ect.

Persides who doesnt love the Tron soundtrack.

More music research

This week I've been listening to Tool, Sigur Ros, Amon Tobin, Orbital, Mogwai, Mono, Kraftwerk, Gershwin and Jordan Rudess. I think my second song selection is going to be a choice between 2 Amon Tobin songs:

They both use samples that sound to me like industrial work (or kitchen utensils being banged on things but industrial work fits better with the site) and calm piano or guitar which stops in some places like the river disappearing from view but the consistent beat of both songs reminds me that the river is always flowing.

Found two books at the Central Library, about The River Rea.
Both by Harry Reeves - I like this man, wish more people were this passionate about whats around them. And his poems about the Rea are brilliant!

I can scan any pages in, once im done, if I think there of any use?

Brian Eno - Tal Coat

This is the best fitting music to the ideas I have about the river (so far). I like the layering of 'bubbles', like the river, constant steady 'buzzing', like the traffic and train line surrounding the river, and the electronic synth sounds which I feel represent the youthful/musical/artistic way Digbeth is developing. The occasional piano notes could be a duck swimming against the current..

River Rea - Fish spotted

River Rea post by Jocelyn is River Rea tributary of River Severn. River Rea in Birmingham is tributary of River Trent. Two different river systems.
